I2SL Student Showcase for Sustainable Laboratories

I2SL’s Circular Economy for Labs Community of Practice (CoP) hosted a showcase for students to

demonstrate the work they are doing to promote sustainable laboratory practices or processes at

campuses, companies, and other organizations.

Over a dozen students gave brief, virtual talks during a special CoP showcase over Zoom on April 17.

Each student presented for five to seven minutes about the work they are doing, either through an

internship or as a job, to make laboratories more energy-efficient, resource-efficient, or environmentally

sustainable. The winner, Rachel Porter, a PhD student at Stanford University, will give a talk on

decarbonizing process steam at Stanford during the I2SL Annual Conference in Boston September 14.
