Get Ready to Take AIM for Lab Building Energy Savings
After completing a pilot phase and refining the software, I2SL is getting ready to publicly launch its latest Labs2Zero offering, the Actionable Insights and Measures (AIM) Report. Available starting in mid-August, the AIM Report is an automated energy audit tool specifically designed for lab buildings. It quickly identifies and calculates potential savings for applicable energy conservation measures, producing results similar to those of a high-level energy audit for a fraction of the cost, and allowing users to build the business case for further project development and design.
From the I2SL Lab Benchmarking Tool (LBT) website, users will be able to generate AIM Reports in just a few mouse clicks. For building owners, managers, or consultants who already have lab buildings entered in the LBT, subscribing to the AIM Report software is a logical and quick next step to find out where there is potential for improved energy performance.
For those who have not previously used the LBT, I2SL has developed a hands-on training workshop covering both the LBT and the AIM Report. I2SL is offering the workshop on October 19 at the Annual Conference in Dallas; space is limited, but interested attendees can learn more and register here. Workshop participants will receive an extra discount on AIM Report subscriptions. The workshop has already been hosted by I2SL’s Australia and UK chapters, and I2SL is working with our 15 U.S. chapters to host additional workshops across the country starting in the Fall. Stay tuned!
I2SL will email our members and broader network once the AIM Report software is ready for subscribers. If you’d like to get ready to use the AIM Report in the meantime, you can create a free LBT account now and enter your lab building and utility data. There’s a Quick Start Guide on the website, which explains how to generate free Energy Scores for your lab buildings now. Then, when the AIM Report software is released, you can subscribe and immediately start generating packages of energy conservation measures to improve your lab buildings’ scores and performance.

Annual and monthly subscriptions are available; paying for a full year up front offers significant savings, as shown in the table at right. The cost of an annual AIM subscription, which can be used to generate reports on an unlimited number of lab buildings, is significantly less than the cost of a typical onsite ASHRAE Level 1 energy audit for a single building. I2SL members receive 10 percent off the basic subscription rates, and an additional 20 percent discount is available to all users subscribing before November 30!
A free demo version of the software will be available. The demo will allow users to try all the features of the AIM Report, but with a limited number of energy conservation measures. Starting in mid-August, users can sign up for the demo version to try the tool on the LBT website or pay for a subscription to unlock the full set of measures.
More information and a free webinar introducing the AIM Report will be coming soon. Email Labs2Zero@i2sl.org if you plan to subscribe and want to be one of the first to access the AIM Report software!
