Named for Brown University's largest donor, the $95 million Sidney E. Frank Hall for Life Science is the university's single largest capital project to date. The sprawling, 169,000-square-foot research center opened in 2006. The facility is devoted to the study of human biology and houses the departments of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and neuroscience, with a focus on improving human health.

The facility is a hallmark of Brown University's cutting-edge science studies. The five-story glass and brick building features 62 offices, 30 laboratories, 10 conference rooms, and a 98-seat seminar room, which together create a hub of life science research and further promote cross-disciplinary collaboration within university departments.

The facility is a work of architectural beauty, featuring a soaring atrium, spiral staircase, and art glass bridge, as well as a representation of Brown University's commitment to energy efficiency and high-performance design. The facility has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Its sustainable features include water-efficient landscaping, brownfield site development, and optimized energy performance.

I2SL would like to extend a special thanks to our Brown University's Sidney E. Frank Hall for Life Science evening tour and reception sponsors:
