Dear I2SL Chapter Officers,
I2SL HQ has hit the ground running in 2020, and it sounds like our chapters have too! We have several new resources to enhance your local events and opportunities to get involved in promoting sustainable laboratories across the country. Check them out below!
Go Beyond Awards Revamp
I2SL HQ is still looking for support from chapters to help revamp the Go Beyond Awards program in time for the 2021 conference, including awarding local projects to seed our national program. If you are interested in joining the working group to develop the new awards program, please contact Phil Wirdzek.
Laboratory Benchmarking Tool (LBT)
All of you should have received an email from Phil regarding the Laboratory Benchmarking Tool. If you did not receive the email, please let me know and I can send it to you. I2SL HQ created a flier that can be used to promote the LBT at chapter events and in your organizations. Be on the lookout for an Operational Practices survey soon in 2020; results will be used to pre-populate a new LBT Operational Practices module, so please help this effort by taking the survey.
DOZN Tool for Green Chemistry Working Group
I2SL is launching a new working group, led by Samy Ponnusamy from MilliporeSigma. The goal of the working group is to discover how the DOZN 2.0 Quantitative Green Chemistry Evaluator can be used to create sustainable lab spaces for green chemistry studies and research. Lab planners, designers, and engineers are encouraged to participate, along with owners, operators, and users. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please contact I2SL.
Call for Presenters Now Open!
The Call for Presenters for the 2020 I2SL Annual Conference October 4 through 7, in Chicago, is now open. There are topics for designers, builders, managers, users, and operators—so submit your abstract by March 6, 2020, and help us design a sustainable future.
Lab Manager Design Summit
Need your networking fix before October? Sign up for the 2020 Lab Manager Design Summit, May 11 through 13, in Atlanta. Leaders in the lab design/build community, including a number of I2SL chapter officers and members, will discuss sustainability initiatives, collaboration between project team members, and the lab of the future. Awards will be presented for Lab Design Excellence, and professional credits are available. Discounted early bird registration ends February 14.
Free Stuff for Chapters!
If you require a reimbursement from I2SL HQ for an expense, you can now complete the Chapter Reimbursement Request Form and send it to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. This form and many more items are available on the Chapter Resources page on the I2SL website.
The I2SL chapter presentation template has been updated and now includes information about the LBT, group memberships, and more. You can use these slides in presentations to give audiences more information on I2SL and ways to get involved.
The I2SL Board of Directors is interested in the great work our chapters are doing around the world. Please keep sending details about your events for the Chapter Event Calendar, or request administrator access to add events. Any updates to HQ-managed chapter webpages can also be sent to me.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything or have any questions.
