Frequently Asked Questions
General Conference Information
Will the 2021 I2SL Annual Conference be in-person or virtual?
I2SL is hosting an in-person conference in Atlanta, Georgia, September 26 through September 29, 2021. Our attendees’ safety is our first priority, and we will continue to monitor federal guidance to ensure the safest format possible, but no virtual option is currently planned.
Where can attendees stay while attending the conference?
I2SL has reserved a block of rooms at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, and encourages attendees to stay at the host hotel, where I2SL is coordinating with management to ensure the safety of our guest members. To learn more about the Marriott’s commitment to keeping guests safe, visit their website. You can also read about Marriott/Bonvoy’s “Commitment to Clean” here.
Can I receive CEUs for attending the I2SL Annual Conference?
Yes. Conference and pre-conference training session attendees are eligible to receive continuing education credit. I2SL will provide a conference attendance form for attendees to submit and issue a certificate to confirm their participation. Professional engineers and Green Building Council Institute members can use the certificate to self-report credits. I2SL will report attendance for registered American Institute of Architects (AIA) members, as long as your AIA member number is included on the form.
Will offsite tours be offered this year?
Yes. I2SL has two optional tour opportunities to choose from at either Emory University or the Georgia Institute of Technology. Advanced registration is required. Transportation and light refreshments will be provided.

COVID-19-Related Information
What COVID-19 precautions is I2SL taking to ensure the in-person conference is safe for attendees?
I2SL is following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) event guidance and working with our Georgia Chapter and the Atlanta Marriott Marquis to support a safe and productive conference and stay at the hotel. During the conference, we will adhere to the most up-to-date CDC social distancing and face covering guidelines during the conference and ensure frequent cleaning and disinfection of conference spaces.
Will attendees be required to wear masks during the conference?
In addition to adhering to CDC guidelines, I2SL is also following local mandates relating to public health and safety. Per the executive order issued by the mayor of the City of Atlanta on July 28, 2021, masks are required in all indoor spaces regardless of vaccination status.
Will conference attendees be required to have the COVID-19 vaccine?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people get fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and I2SL supports CDC’s position with regards to conference attendees. While exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present, per the CDC, vaccines are safe and highly effective at protecting people from the severe effects of COVID-19, and getting fully vaccinated may help protect people around you. The CDC recommends preventive measures for unvaccinated individuals; thus I2SL encourages conference attendees to follow all relevant CDC guidance with regards to COVID-19. For more information see www.cdc.gov.
My company already registered to exhibit at the in-person 2021 Annual Conference. Will we receive a refund if the conference is rescheduled?
In the event that the 2021 I2SL Conference is re-scheduled due to health and safety concerns regarding COVID-19, I2SL will automatically transfer exhibitors’ booth payment and reservation to the 2022 I2SL Conference and Technology Fair. No refunds will be issued if the in-person event is postponed. For more information about the Tech Fair cancellation and refund policy, see the Tech Fair information page.
