BIM for FM at R&D/Pharma Facilities

Igor Starkov, EcoDomus, Inc.

There have been dozens of projects showing the benefits of BIM (Building Information Modeling) for facility lifecycle. A book is written on this topic – IFMA’s “BIM for Facility Managers” (2014). I2SL promoted this topic for years. Almost every conference about FM or BIM has a track or two about “BIM for FM”. And still, 95% of organizations aren’t doing much to implement the new workflows and technologies. Among the factors that cause the resistance: how are we going to use BIM? Isn’t it too difficult and expensive? What if it doesn’t work or my employees don’t use it? Igor Starkov, EcoDomus’ co-founder and CEO, will share the lessons learned accumulated over the past 8 years working with the leading facility owners around the world: Sydney Opera House, Google, University of Southern California, GSA, including several R&D/Pharma clients like Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, etc.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn about the use cases (business workflows) that benefit from using Lifecycle BIM
  • Learn about the BIM requirements that facility owners apply to their design/construction projects and BIM Quality Control
  • Learn about the innovative technologies (AR, VR, IoT, BIM, 3D GIS) and how they solve real problems
  • Learn how to move from watching presentations at conferences to implementing new processes within your organization
