Susan (Kulakowski) Vargas conducts demand-side market research, evaluates and demonstrates promising technologies, and develops new program delivery strategies to reduce demand for energy in 14 million square feet of building stock at Stanford University. She designed and administers the Energy Conservation Incentive Program, which has provided financial incentives to academic units for reducing electricity use for a decade. Prior to rejoining the University in 2001, Ms. Vargas was a project manager with Energy Solutions (Oakland), where she designed and administered non-residential energy efficiency programs for several California utilities. She has a B.A. in Public Policy from Stanford and earned her M.S. from the Energy and Resources Group at UC Berkeley.
